http://www.revell.com/model-kits/aircraft/85-5860....

This model was released last year but I have yet to see it in any UK retailers either street or web-based.

Does anyone know if it will be available here or will I have to import it?

Thanks.

I managed to find one today in Modelzone, they just came in stock recently. It's a big model in 1/48. smile

Also the Revell Rafale B is currently less than £10, it's a very well made kit with excellent detail and a good range of stores.

I've just finished the Mig 25. smile

In 1/48 it takes up a lot of space on the shelf, it makes a Harrier look very compact.

I believe it's from quite an old mould and the panel lines are raised, I sanded them off and drew them in with a pencil before varnishing. I used Vallejo satin acrylic varnish for the first time and it gives a great result and it pretty easy to use.

I also used a liquid mask for the first time, it worked very well.

Compared to a Tamiya or a more recent Revell, it's a pretty basic model in terms of detail, but I think it gives a good rendition of the Foxbat.

The tarmac card is by Milliscale, they also come in 1/72 and 1/144.

Very nice, uncluttered.. I like it.

Impressive aircraft in its day, the twin jet pipes always impress...huge!

Very nice clean build - the cockpit framing and masking looks particularly good.

Nice build.

I saw a version of one of these flying at Farnborough in 1990. Boy was it noisy - and dirty. I think about half the fuel that passed through the engine emerged at the other end as unburned smoke. You could smell the kerosene from over a mile away.

That is a lovely machine (can't believe I just wrote that about Foxbatsmile )
The painting has been done very nicely, must give that varnish a look-see some day.

Thanks everyone, all the paint was Vallejo, and it was the first time that I have masked the canopy and fitted it before spraying. I would usually mask the frame in parts and hand paint it.

Despite being a simple model, the scale meant it was actually quite a lot of work, I've decided to build a couple of models in parallel next, an Academy Hunter F6 and an Italeri Hawk. The Typhoon is probably about 70% complete, it's nearly ready for its first coat of paint.

Nice work. I could trawl the web for Foxbat trivia all day: built in stainless steel(!), the sheer weight of them, Iraqi fleet buried in the desert, the scary lifespan of the engines etc etc - the stuff of which Cold War schoolboy dreams are made.

Which is a derivative of the MiG-25 Foxbat. The real MiG 31 I mean.
