Peugeot 307 erratic tachometer...

The wife's rev counter on her 2.0 307 has started to behave erratically, giving wrong readings etc. Any suggestions? Just wondered if it was a sensor issue?

Complete guess, speed sensor, probably on gearbox

No a bad guess. I gave it a good spray with WD40 on the same day and it seemed to solve the problem.
