One of these has shown itself as a possibility for my next car but anyone have experience with them, especially as cross-country cars? 200bhp, fwd and manual box a good combo? I've good memories of my old 405 SRi but don't have any experience of the 406 - thanks in advance

On the whole they are good cars, very comfortable long distance cruisers, and you can pick these up for very little money(£1.5-£2K??).The Peugeot V6 is a cracking engine but make sure the cambelt has been replaced. You will not get much change from £1K for fitting a cambelt kit& waterpump. The other weak spots are, front coil springs often brake and O/Side top engine mounting pulls out of the inner wing.Yes,that`s a huge big lump in a 406,so servicing and major jobs can be very expensive. If yours has been well looked after it may be worth thinking about?

Thanks for that - just the sort of answer I was after. Have a couple to look at.
