Any other fellow Renaultsport owners and enthusiasts here? Recently moved from a Clio RS 200 to MK3 Megane 275, they really are the last of a dying breed of the true hot hatch, with all the new stuff getting bigger in size these days, everything going auto only and everything going electric/hybrid, I think people are starting to appreciate these older hot hatches of 10/15 years old a lot more than they did when they first came out! They really are fantastic machines with good chassis, and hold their own on a B-road or a track. Think people nowadays forget the Megane's set the record time for hatches on the ring, three times. Not just a general traffic either, they are getting pretty rare to see on the roads compared to your Golf GTI etc!

Be cool to see how many people are still rocking a V6, Clio Cup or a Megane Trophy R

And if you are thinking about buying a naturally aspirated Clio 200 or a Megane, you won't regret it... wink

Hi and agree totally. I am a bit late to the party having missed the hot hatch bit in the ‘80s and ‘90s with convertibles and rwd stuff.

But a friend in the village was selling this a couple of years ago and couldn’t resist. And it has been a revelation.

Wouldn’t want to drive across Europe but locally it is a hoot. Small, agile, na engine and enough power to be fun. Recaros are great and brembo brakes superb with so little weight. Don’t think they will ever make stuff like this again. Small, light, 3 door and cheap to run. Wife hates it!

Currently undergoing full maintenance with engine pulled down, new clutch, suspensions and maybe some small tweaks. About time at almost the age of 26 smile

Yes ... often to be found on other topics becase there's not a Renaultsport section ... Moderators ??

I have it quite badly ... V6 255 with 5000 miles like new, Clio RS200 Cup which is not yet run-in, and a rather more useable Twingo 133 RS Cup with 12000 miles on it ... !!

They are beautiful and one day will be revered .... and hopefully valued accordingly.

Haha mate they are so much fun, would love to get back into another one day. I did a long weekend tour of the Champagne region in France in mine and finished in Paris, didn’t skip a beat and felt right at home. And the French gave it a lot of love!!

4 Control is wonderful it works perfectly you can throw it into any corner at any speed it sticks to the road like a limpet! Also works all the way up to Vmax of 162 mph on Phase2 RS (something most reviewers did not catch onto!).

Warm the tyres up first though....

MK4 Trophy R need 2 holes drilling in the gearbox casing to avoid clutch slip...that alone would put me off ever owning one plus not sure its any faster on an average UK road as no 4 control system to enhance cornering performance!

On track for sure eventually the Trophy R would move away from you a little as 130 kg lighter but the 4 Control system is really potent & the Phase 2 RS have more torque & more power plus a redesigned cylinder head & EDC optimised engine map from the Renault F1 team R&D facilities....!

I've owned a few. Clio 172 Cup, Clio 182, Megane 275 Nav. I do like them.

Megane was a nice spec with Recaros, 18" alloys, and Cup suspension from factory. White wouldn't have been my first choice but it was a good deal. Fitted some reconditioned Ohlins after a while. Had it for 7yrs which is by far the longest I've ever owned a car. Proper drivers car that can do everything really.

I’ve had a few Renaultsports.

My latest is this, a 2016 275 Cup S with Akrapovic exhaust, Ohlins and Recaros all as factory options.

Fantastic thing.

Interesting, have you tracked yours mate? I’ve heard that the 4 Control interferes with you behind the wheel on track, which is why they got rid of it on the Trophy R. Would love to try both one day, everyone I’ve spoken to with MK4 TR has never had a bad thing to say about them, they’re just flipping expensive!

I suppose getting rid of the back seats and adding some carbon will always make the car lighter and quicker haha
