new fan belt squeaks

Hi, just changed my fan belt on a saxo 1.5 diesel and the new belt is squeaking just like the old one did. Anybody know waht this means?

Have you checked the output from your alternator? if it having to work extra hard to charge the battery (could also be a battery on the way out) it will squeel until a steady charge rate is reached.
