I've just had my Mulsanne upgraded to Carplay using the system from Integrated Automotive

https://integratedautomotive.co.uk/bentley-mulsann...

The system works great, it is either wired or wireless, doesn't affect the original functions of the screen and the steering wheel buttons still work.

Did you install yourself? Is the control by the rotary controller?

Happy?

I’ve been considering it for a while but there is virtually nothing online in terms of real owner experience. It’s the one thing missing from the otherwise perfect car.

First off, I didn't install it myself, I asked Integrated Automotive for a local installer and they put me on to a great guy who does high end audio installs in Newcastle. He charged me an hour’s labour to fit and he said it is pretty easy install as it all goes in line i.e. you don't have to strip the head unit down and install a circuit board as some systems do. The only problem they encountered was that the wires all fit behind the left hand unit in the glove box but there isn't enough room to do it, so he reverses the position of the CD multi player and the DVD player, if he hadn't told me about this I would never have noticed!

The Carplay system is controlled by the rotary controller which takes a bit of getting used to but you can just ask Siri to do most things so you are not scrolling with the rotary controller.

Am I happy? Yes definitely, it works as it should, it updates the car's original offering and it's very easy to switch back and forward between the original interface and the Carplay one.

Although it was only installed last week, so I have only used it for a couple of days, I am glad I did it.

Hope that helps.

Nice to know @dan_h I just need the mulsanne now rofl

As I said the other day, if one comes up in the right spec and money I think i might jump into one. Def temptedsmile

I use Android auto for my cars especially in Europe and it's generally come on loads over the last few years so a good upgrade to have.

Out of interest, if you are listening to the radio and running Waze / google maps do they voice over (cut) the radio sound to give instructions ?

You know it makes sense wink

Missed you at the Aston Workshops, I think I saw your car but I only hung around for about an hour.

Having never listened to the radio for probably over 10 years at first I couldn't tell you, so when I was out today I gave it a try and unfortunately it doesn't work. Thinking about it for a bit, I think it doesn't work as to get carplay to work your phone has to be selected as the source so therefore you can't play the radio as you can't have two audio sources at the same time. (This may be complete rubbish, I really don't know) I was chatting with my son in law and he said that there are apps that enable you to listen to radio stations through carplay, he uses one called Tune In, so I would guess that if you are listening through carplay the radio would cut when directions are read out.

Hi. Yeah that is mine. I did look out for you but clearly our paths never crossed. It was shame about the weather as I think that put a few people off attending.

Its funny I don't really "listen" to the radio its just a bit of background noise but I have got used to it over the years.

Yes that's my understanding from my son as well, I have it retro fitted to one of my other cars and just find it annoying that it doesn't work like all other systems.
I am off on a euro tour soon and the workaround seems to be Waze on with radio and then sound directions coming out of the phone on normal roads, switching to no radio and sound direction from the car whilst in cities.
