It's come around quickly again, only a few months away starting 6th February in Italy - Milan and Cortina

UK TV coverage on TNT, Discovery+ and limited coverage on BBC

Probably worth subbing for a month to Discovery+

Bump

Winter Olympics starting soon, next Wednesday I think,

bit of a rocky understated build up to this one, will get Discovery+ for a months subscription I think its £5 or something

Looks like a good deal for £3.99 / month - https://auth.discoveryplus.com/product

I was concerned they'd paywall it or some of the best events behind the 10 * more expensive TNT sports (£31 / month) but looks like the entire winter Olympics schedule will be accessible via Discovery+

Why pay when the BBC have extensive coverage

From Friday 6 to Thursday 22 February 2026, the BBC is delivering more than 450 hours of live action from Milan-Cortina

On discovery you can choose from live feeds from everything ... the BBC only has limited feeds

Is the ice skating rink and the new chairlift finished?

The new multi-purpose arena for the hockey is still being finished, which is also not the correct size of ice pad, and less seats than its supposed to have, although that might be a misunderstanding between total capacity (inc standing) and total seats.

Chairlift not complete or tested.

Can't wait. Love the Winters just as much as Summer Olympics.

Shiffrin is coming into the Slalom in ridiculous form having won seven of the eight World Cup events (came second in the other). It looked like the remarkable comeback of Linsey Vonn meant there was a real possibility of another medal, possibly gold, but she had a nasty crash in the last event and the replaced knee may have been damaged.

We have a real chance in the Men's Slalom - Dave Ryding, Billy Major and Laurie Taylor with Alain Baxter coaching them.

Out of all the events though, the Biathlon is our favourite. The perfect combination of one of the highest intensity sports with a discipline that requires the complete opposite - a low pulse rate and perfect stillness. Ski too fast and miss - you lose. Ski slow and hit - every chance you'll also lose...

Also love the Skeleton and Luge, with the double luge ranking as the most hilarious!

Looking forward to it. I love when the Olympics is on, someone on here summed it up during Paris 2024; being able to switch the TV on at virtually any time during waking hours and there is live sport to watch. Often something you've never watched before.

I wonder how limited the BBC coverage will be, I don't want to miss out so will consider a Discovery+ sub for the month. Rather frustrating that my wife has paid for it via Prime TV, but it doesn't work on the XBox Prime TV app. Guess what I use for TV in my office? banghead

It's on one channel all day, every day for the whole games, so you'll be at the mercy of their directors but I'd expect them to follow the bigger events / Team GB interests.

I've always thought you needed several screws loose to compete in downhill events!

Just watched the 2 documentaries on Discovery+ that cover the 5 GB Womens ski and snowboarders and the 3 Mens Slalom teams.

Great insight into their introduction to the snow sports and what s involved in getting to the Olympics/World Cups etc.

And the lights have gone out at the Curling!

Some people will probably subscribe for a month just to get the right feed and avoid relying on the BBC’s choices. The Winter Olympics always feels far away until it suddenly takes over the schedule.

That’s what I did
£3.99 a month Subscription to Discovery+
Cancelled straight after, so it runs until early March.
Have the Curling on now in the background, love the way random (to me) sports can interest you during the Olympics!
