First place!!!

Yeaaaaa!!!!
I took the Esprit out 'officially' for the first time Saturday to a local car show put on by some of our fire department guys... money goes to a good place.
Anyway, I just went for fun as I always do (get to serious about the competition and you loose the fun). I was sitting in the shade with some other car nut buddies having a beer when the judges called me out to get the first place trophie for Britsh Production Cars! I could not believe it as there was a AH 3000 that was sure to win.
I guess my time with the Lotus has been constructive as well as enjoyable!
Drive topless!!!

Congratulations!
I show my Esprit, but only as a second priority, it is definitely not a Garage Queen. I drive the car as it was intended, incuding some track time.
I've had it in 4 shows, the first, I didn't even place (although I was deemed a 'Finalist'), but the next three (including the National Lotus Convention), I was awarded 1st place, pretty satisfying for a 19 y.o. car w/ 48k on the clock with original paint and interior.
These cars attract a lot of attention, especially when stacked up against a lot of 'Muscle', even the big Healeys and Por*hes etc.
The trophy will look great on your wall. Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE

Yes I can add that I have won the Lady in Competition Cup for the last two years. People I were up against were naturally better drivers from their experience but the handling and power of the Esprit round the track puts its nose always in front.
Something about Esprit ownership also gets you nominated and dragged onto the Lotus committee
damm means more work and orgnising to do. They already have a tea lady so I am safe
So I say reap the rewards of Lotus ownership, its something to be proud of.
