Quaife ATB Diff has arrived
Discussion
The Quaife ATB Differential I ordered from QuaifeAmerica last Thursday arrived today. Could not have been easier to get one and they told me they have good supply in stock. Nice unit overall and quite small, weighing in just over 13 pounds. Once I get the remaining parts, the gearbox is coming out.

Kevin...
Since you are plugged in with Quaife America, any chance you could ask them for information about the six speed system that they have for the V8 as listed in this Ebay item
I was just curious when I saw that on line the other day...

Hi Ernest,
I just called their main number (949-240-4000) and asked for Jason Alvarez as he responded to the email I sent (info@quaifeamerica.com). I sent a return email asking about the V8 quaife setup... we'll see.
I also looked at the 1997 V8 on ebay with the quaife gearbox (they need more revealing pics on ebay). I looked into this a while back... Quaife make the gearbox and a bellhousing to match the 918 V8 engine. You will need to fabricate the mounts and half-shafts however and I think quaife will do the work. Currently, there does not appear to be any existing linkage available for the shifter and as such most go with the sequential shifter which is used with the non-synchro'd gearbox which is noisey (a relative term) and Quaife's sequential shifter. Needles to say, it's not a small job.
I've opted to keep the Renault box but add the Quaife diff and rebuild it. Another possible option is to have a stronger 1-piece input shaft made but keep the standard clutch spline and gears intact (where the upgrade kit from Derek Bell requires a different clutch and has different ratios with first gear being straight-cut). As I start yanking this apart, we'll se how it looks.

Also looking foward to the results. Have you seen Kato has a short article on the Bell gearbox on his site:

Hi Rob,
BTW - really like the pics of your run thru France.... very nice indeed.
I swapped email with Derek about a year ago regarding his UN-1 upgrade. It's a very well done setup and I inquired about some changes for the Esprit. The current upgrade requires a single disc clutch using a Ford spline which is obviously more popular than the Renault spline but not such a simple change for the V8 with it's twin-plate AP clutch.
From my own personal view, I would lean towards keeping the stock gear ratios (and input spline) and just have the upgraded single piece input shaft. Hopefully this will eventually come to fruition and Esprit owners will be able to upgrade a weak point.
