Article a bit prejudice or not?
Discussion
I remember reading this article a long time ago and I just came across it again today on LEW.
What are your opinions on this guys take of the Esprit?

I read that one quite some time ago... he's an MR2 owner and the Esprit is probably the first and only exotic anything he's ever gotten behind the wheel of.
When you get the part where he's talking about boost pressures (all guess and zero fact) and refers to the "waste gate" as a "waist gate" I simply considered the source and ignored the rest of the writing.

They used to have a website, rev-mag.com. The guy who wrote up about the Esprit, also wrote about Vipers, Vettes, NSX's, a Ferrari F355, so he has driven others.
But yes, he comes across like he has a personal problem with the Esprit or something.

5.8 seconds to 60 - where did that come from?
Lack of useable trunk space? The Esprit has a bigger boot than any of the 3 MR2s they've made.
And why is he sticking the back end in a lake?
A very disappointing article.
To add to that, $80K is a perfectly justifiable price in my opinion for a car of such rank.
Good point about the MR2 space. Autoweek stated the MR2 space best when it said...
"As for useable space, the MR2 spyder makes the MX-5 Mazda Miata look like a UPS Truck"
However, to each his own. The article did seem a bit on the point out the bad side. The Esprit is an exotic in the true meaning in my opinion. Hand built, quirky, and British (not Japanese). Flaws...or... character? It is your call of course. I'm quite happy with my Esprit having driven a 911, Ferrari 308, and Pantera enough to say I'm familiar with the way they all drive...
There are two Esprit adds I have seen over the years that sum up my thoughts well...
"For those who know"
"Esprit. Substitute found". (an obviuos hit at Porsche)
Drive topless!!!

Hi All,
Haven't posted in a while, but do pop in here on occasion.
I think the back end in the lake picture was a feeble attempt at imitating the scene from The Spy Who Loved Me where Bond drives out of the water.
As for the article, I wasn't impressed, but that's okay. He's entitled to his opinion (no matter how wrong it may be...LOL) and I believe that if everyone was smart enough to appreciate the Esprit, the prices would be in the stratosphere out of my reach.
I'm happy to be one of the few who knows the difference.

P.S. My Esprit is finally out of the bodyshop!

Hello all.
Just popped in from another forum and this is almost a thread hijack. Always wanted an Esprit and will get one shortly (as I have been promising myself for years). I now no longer need to drive to work so when I get it it will be my only car.
The reason for this post is that I currently drive a MkII MR2 which has got a boot big enough for my golf clubs. Any car I have needs to have space for the clubs so - will they fit in the boot of an Esprit? I always assumed not as supercars and golf clubs do not usually go together but the posts in this thread imply that the boot is larger than an MR2.
