Can an esprit run on one fuel tank?
Discussion
Hi all ,
am, having problems with fuel smell, just wondering if on worst case scenario and the passenger (UK) petrol tank is leaking (engine out - and i dont have the money to take into dealer) is it possible to seal this tank off and run the esprit off one tank?
any help much appreciated

Dave,
Yes, it is possible to run on a single tank. Not recommended, simply because if one went, can the other be far behind? If the engine is already out, there'll never be a better time to address it. Then there's the weight imbalance and filling up every 2.5 hrs of operation. Still, if that's the best you can do... Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE
In the U.K. the 'drivers side' tank holds the fuel pump and the return line goes in as well. That tank obviously needs to be in service. I believe that the other tank holds your fuel gauge sender however. Surely you could cap that tank and seal off the crossover line but then you'd need to keep very careful track of fuel. Turbos engines really hate going lean as they run out of fuel. The smell of burned pistons and cats comes to mind. Plus as Jim mentioned, you can get there, but not back.
