Hello,

I've been wanting a lotus esprit for some time preferable 1989+. Depends what I can afford when my lease is up for my Mazda. But thought I do some research before hand.

I'm 6'4 240lbs (fit), now is that going to be a problem. Who is the tallest here?

I had a 1991 300zx a few years back and fit great in that. I'm in the SF Bay Area, California. There hasn't been a whole lot of them for sale lately so haven't had a chance to check one out yet.

Anyways, any info would be apreciated.

Thank you

I am 6'0", and I fit, but barely. There was a guy at work, now moved back to Tampa, and he bought a NSX. He took me for a ride in it and I noted that I have more head room in the Esprit than I had in his NSX. He is 6'3 or better, maybe 6'4, but he is "all legs" by his own admission. He fit in my Esprit, and he fit in the NSX.

So, I guess you really need to "try it on" to see if it will fit. Sailed with an Icelandic captain once. He said he had to buy cars that fit, like pants.

I'n not quite as tall as you (6' 2"), but was worried a bit myself. I test drove an S4 and it was a real squeeze, but my S4s is fine. Plenty of room. As people have said, give it a go and make sure you play around with the seat, as you can gain some headroom with judicious fiddling around...

Good luck!

Hi Iam 6'-3" and was about 231lbs until about a month ago. I own a 1990 carb turbo and when I first bought it found it a bit of a squeeze due the the seats and narrow tunnel. I've since put GT3 seats in and it's worked a treat. As a stop gap I removed the spacers from the rear of the seat and put them on the front. This did help.
Later Esprit 93 onwards have more more as the tunnel is wider.
I did meet an guy at Donnington once who was 6'-7" and 250lbs. He managed to fit in his somehow.

Cheers,

I have a 1987 Giugiaro.

I am 6"2.

I barely fit in it.

Having a glass roof helps. I drive with mine open or removed.

I'm a long body (short leg) 6'0" foot and fit OK into my '86 Giugiaro but have real trouble with wearing a crash helmet on track days. Did once go for a test drive with Martin Colvill from the UK dealers Bell and Colvill and at 6'4" he seemed to get on OK. But you will have to try one out - at best you'll be at the limit and if you have particularly long legs or body for your height then unlikely to fit I'm afraid! Good luck - if you can get comfy its a great drive!

Hi,
I'm 6'1 and have no trouble in my 88' Turbo. With the roof closed I notice, but it is not a problem. I believe that the pre 88' Esprits do not have fully adjustable seats. I sit pretty up right I'm told, as the seat can be laid back a bit more than I have it...

Seats like an Italian... Long arms... short legs. So do not expect the usual British long legs close steering wheel.

Drive topless!!!
