Gday all
Previously in a thread i had found a banging noise under my car .....
On the hoist it seemed as though the radiator fan cowling was the trouble maker... (banging against the radiator when over bumps).

A cable tie was the temporary measure
On the weekend with the car on car ramps i has a closer look
.... It was not cracked as previously thought
.... just very loose in the middle of the fan cowling , pulling and tugging on it .... bang bang bang .
My Question :
Looking at it (mine has the 3 fans setup)
It seems as though the top of the cowling is held on by a screw at each end ....and nothing in the middle...Hence only 2 SCREW secure the top of the cowling ... ( no other screw holes seen)
Is this correct ?
I was thinking of making a couple of little brackets that hook into the top of the radiator top lip and screw into the side of the fan cowling.
Any suggestions b4 i go ahead with this idea

Many Thanks

Gday mate
I have an 87HC and I was looking under my car on Saturday and I noticed my fan cowl is broken on the passenger side (lhd car). Thats as far as I have got,I saw it through the wheel well. It looks as though its a Jim'll fix it job. Let me know if you come up with anything before I get to mine

Hey.. Considering the crap ABS its made from, and how much weight it is being asked to hold up, hanging somewhat upside down in the process. Not surprising they can be a bit of trouble. Mine is all cracked to rat sh@t, so it doesnt matter much if the screws are in, it is already in failure mode.

I plan on eventually making new carbon-kevlar ones. If anyone has similar problems with theirs as I do, and may be interested in eventually swapping out for a replacement CF version, let me know. Jan 83 ET
