I need a new rear bumper for my 89 non-SE.

Terrible story. I picked my car from the dealer after getting fitted with new tires. I parked in front of my house, when in and took out the garbage. When I came outside, my car had rolled downhill about 30 feet and bumped into a parked car. Luckily no one was hurt, and the vehicle I hit didn't have a scratch, but the Lotus bumper has some significant cracking and peeling.

In any event, the body shop called the Lotus dealer who said the bumpers are not available. Suggestions?

JAE, Dave Bean, etc.

FWIW, when my trailing arm pivot bolt broke and allowed the right rear wheel to chew up my bumper my body shop was able to plastic weld it back together. They wouldn't guarantee the repair but over a year later you still can't tell it was ever repaired on the outside or the inside.

It's a pity you're not over this side of the pong as I have one and also a valance. I wouldn't like to guess what shipping would be. If you get really stuck and it can't be repaired then e-mail me.
Oh, be careful when you go out for a decent run then park on a hill. When the brakes cool down, the handbrake sometimes isn't effective. Make sure you really lock the handbrake or let the brakes cool down. It's happened to me once though I hate to admit it.

Cheers,

I always leave my vehicles in gear when I park. Probably dates back to my Europa in which the PO had removed the hand brake all together to fit a stereo amp. I have heard that Europa hand brakes were useless anyway.
