Renault gearbox question

Is the Renault gearbox used by Lotus the same one that was on the old Renault Fuego cars?

No.
The Fuego NG3 transaxle is used as a replacement in Europas, but it's very different from the UN-1 box used in later Esprits.

I think it shares a lot of components with the Renault 25 and Espace gearbox. (Also the Alpine GTA?)
But someone with much better knowledge of this will be along in a mo'....
