This game is probably the most embarrassing moment of Lotus' life. The cars stink, they handle like overweight pigs, they're slow, they're ugly (the cars in real life are great, but the game is so poorly designed you begin to think all Lotus ever produced were eyesores), the graphics are lousy and worst of all - the 4cyl turbo (88-96) Esprit is nowhere to be found. The V8 Esprits are there but you have to play your way through a bunch of antiquated garbage to "unlock" them.

There is no replay, the tracks are ridiculous (One is an offroad dirtbike course for the Carlton!?!? Another is a series of jumps over schoolbusses for the Elise) You can flip your car over for no apparant reason and the game doesn't reset. You just lay there, flipped over waiting for time to run out.

Anyway, I've wated enough of my life with this...but as the owner of a '90 SE Esprit, I would've loved to have just been able to pick the car, select my color, and tear around like in Need for Speed (at the very least). If you're like me and you love Lotus this game is absolutely AWFUL.

I hope they pull this off the shelves and then bury it forever. Shame on everyone involved with this game.

I couldn't disagree more. I've had this game for a long while, and I loved it. I just had some friends over this weekend and they played and loved it too.

I like that it is a lot less forgiving than most video games, and seems to be more a realistic driving experience. I could care less about the graphics not being up to PGR standards, because for me the gameplay is most important.

This is a great driving game, and it doesn't have the bells and whistles a lot of games that aren't as much fun have. To me, that still makes it a winner.

I assume you are talking about the latest version? Because the original two games I am familiar with back in the 90's were awesome! Okay nicked from the archetypal 'Outrun' but still a corker!

About it being pulled from the shelves... A bunch of places said the game had been 'recalled', and was pulled from their shelves for being so bad. I finally found a copy... The controls are weird to me, there are only a few options, and I couldn't really get used to them, which made driving the cars very difficult at first. Driving the cars without the traction control takes a lot of practice. The graphics do make the cars look odd, especially the Elise, and the G Esprits. Some tracks aren't too creative. I agree about cars sometimes flipping for no reason, and the turbo Esprit seems to have much less traction than my real one. It's fun for a while though. Gran Turismo seems more realistic, and gives you much more cars (though not as many Lotuses), but I wouldn't call it the worst game ever.

Agreed. Not impressed at all with it. Because of all the mentioned problems.

Grand Tourismo 3 is great though. The Esprit's sound and drive like the real thing and the graphics are sensational.

Nice to talk about games. I was also disapointed by Lotus Challenge. It is not so bad but I was expecting a higher quality...
One question: Looks like Gran T 4 will be available only in april, do you think guys it worst the wait or GT 3 is a lot better than GT 2 (I have on PS1) I could buy it as a waiting issue (just to feel better than Lotus challenge on my PS2)

GT3 is good. And you should be able to pick up a used copy or a best collection for very cheap. I don't quite remember GT2 since it is back in a while already, but GT3 now have Esprit, Elise, and Exige.
GT4 Prologue is out for sale now, but since it is a Prologue, I am assuming that it is not a complete game either.
