I INSTALLED A NEW CHIP FOR 90 ESPRIT SE CHIP #2, I JUST STARTED DRIVING IT AND TESTING IT OUT AT HALF AND THREE- QUARTER THROTTLE IT IS FINE WHEN I PUSH THE THROTTLE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TURBO BOOST GOES TO 1 BAR THEN LOSES TURBO BOOST I HAVE TO EASE OFF THE THROTTLE AND PRESS ON THE THROTTLE AGAIN TO GET BOOST, I KNOW THE CHIP IS NEW IS THAT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING I HAVE TO DRIVE A LITTLE MORE SO THIS DOES NOT DO THIS OR SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CHIP IT IS NOT NORMAL ANYONE KNOW. THANK YOU AGAIN.

Hi,

Be sure your chargecooler pump is working properly. If the impellor is shot, you may be running chargecooler temps which are impairimg the ECU. If the ECU detects chagecooler temps exceeding 83°, you cannot generate full boost.

Btw, postng in full CAPS is considered bad form, a sort of shouting. Make sure your CAPS LOCK is not engaged.

Rebuild of the chargecooler pump is not a difficult procedure and can be done for under $75USD. Hope this helps...Happy Motoring!... Jim'85TE

Your wastegate actuator spring may be worn. This can prevent the boost pressure from being maintained because the wastegate will start to open prematurely.

I had this exact same problem a year ago. The car would hiccup and lose boost whenever it was maxed out. One rebuilt turbo and new spark plugs later and it was fixed.

If you lose total boost check the small hose going to the wastegate actuator it may have come off. While an impaired intercooler will not allow full boost it will not cut total boost. If the engine feels like it is running out of gas or spark miss check the plugs and the hose.

Does your car have EBPV? If it does check it. Boost 1 bar might melt your CAT, and part of it might stuck at EBPV, make exhaust gas can't flow freely. It happened to me when I put 1.25 bar in my S4S.

What is happening is when I am pressing all the way down on the throttle around .8 to .9 bar boost the car back fires and I lose boost, I was told it take about 2 weeks for the ecu to read the new chip is that true.

pull the plugs and see if the plugs are burnt.

Check the wastegate capsule and if the actuator hose is still on sometimes it falls off.
