I had reached a point in the project where I felt comfortable sending the car out for paint and finishing everything else later. I negotiated a fair deal with a body shop that has done 6 or 7 cars for my dad and that I could trust to do the work quickly and reasonably. The work they did for me is as follows:
1. Bondo right fender.
2. Completely refabricate shape of left fender using the right fender as a template.
3. Complete repairs to bonned hinge and align bonnet
4. Paint the following parts of the car: Entire front end, doors, and roof pillars.

Overall I am pretty happy with the work. I will have to take the car back at a later time for some additional work and to correct a few mistakes (example: 1.5" hair in the clearcoat). At that time I will most likely have the rocker panels and spoiler respayed as well.

There is still tons of work to do on the car. I was able to use the body guys dealer plate to get some road time with the car. Before sending it out I topped off all the fluids as well as doing an oil change and tranny fluid change. The car pulls EXTREMELY strong all the way up to redline and on my way over to the body shop I almost spun the car in second and third gears from some unanticipated wheelspin on full throttle. The tranny doesnt grind, the clutch is strong and the car runs and idles well. As my speedo and boost gauge are frozen solid I have no way to gauge actual performance but having driven my friends 93.5 I know that my car runs just as well if not better.

Fantastic! Keeps me motivated. My '83 is still off the chassis with much work to do before starting on the body.

How in the world can you work where it is so cold?? Its cold to me down here in Mississippi!

Great job,

Looks great! Where did you get your wheels chromed? Is this a standard feature in the US? No such luck in the UK.
