What kills me is I just bought Auto Car last night...but the Porsche Carrer GT one...we get them a bit later here in the US evidently.

Now I have to troll about Barnes and Noble waiting for it to arrive.

Good news, BUT, I doubt that it will have any of the figures they claim, or look like anything they publish. They havent even finished building the last Esprit!

Madmike - What months issue do you have now? Please tell me we dont have to wait until next month to get this issue.

I tell you one thing, that picture looks very similar to the ones that college kid was working on for the next Esprit. If anyone remembers, he had the whole cgi model of it and everything, and got alot of positive responses. I wonder if he made it to Lotus and that was his presentation? Because it looks just like it. Good for him if he did!

Two things to note here:

1. I love the way it looks very wide and flat!
2. I hope the rear of the car is styled correctly. Because I was never too fond of the rear of the current Esprit, and was horrified at the rear of the M250.

No shakey pop-up head-lights though

I'll kinda miss that.

Funny, I don't think it looks much like that kid's drawing at all.

I have the issue from the week of 20 January. It's a weekly publication, so I'm guessing later this week or next week we'll get it.

Yeah me too. But supposingly no company is making them anymore, something to do with being illegal now on new cars. Atleast thats what I heard. Why, I dont know.

I don't know that it's illegal...but I thought that the main reason was because pop-ups make for terrible drag coefficients. Airflow thing.

I should have used another word. What I meant was I read there was some bit of regulations about it or something? But who knows. They definately do make for bad air flow, but whos needs it at night? LOL

Not sure about "the law"... but I am a fan of the "pop-ups"! The blue car pictured above looks a bit like a Camero to me. There are several cars that have gone with the "trendy" loss of pops up here the past few years. None of the new fronts were any better looking - maybe not bad - but "pop-ups" looked better... At the top is Mazda. Yes... on going argument about the MX-5 Miata. In fair play, Mazda at least did it right and the M2 Miata is still a pretty car. But... the not complete list:

Mazda MX-5
Acura NSX - def. better with pop-ups
Pontiac Trans-Am
Mitsubishi Spyder - would be better with pop ups
Most Ferrari's (also like Mazda - did it right)
Corvette (the new one is not attractive in front)
The later R1 RX-7

The Esprit had such charm with the pop-ups!

Drivin' Topless!!!
