Windows motor rebuild kit Turbo SE
Discussion
I looked for parts. I agree with you. I hate to spend $250 on a new or "rebuilt" motor when what I really needed was a ten cent plastic brush holder. I couldn't find anyone to sell me a ten cent brush holder, even at inflated prices. That place in Florida said "We don't sell parts." Guess not when they can get $250 for a ten cent brush holder and some paint (a rebuild.)
I finally wound up going through all the window motor part boxes at O'Reilly's until I found one that looked the same. Gear box was different, but the motor looked the same. Turned out it used a different brush holder than the one I needed, so I had to mod it with Ye Ol Dremel Tool.
You best bet is finding a used Jag motor and using that or gutting it for parts.

Hi,
The motors are a GM part stocked as replacement motors for a '58-'78 Corvette. Current numbers are:
Right side: 05045665
Left side: 05045664
Prices at a Chev dealer were: $162.00 and $175.00 respectively. At Corvette Specialties Inc. in Minneapolis, MN (763)-434-3941 or www.corvetteshop.net I think they were about 125.00 and 127.00 new Delco.
They list them as just the left or right window motor for a 58-78 Vette. Hope this helps. Happy Motoring! ... Jim'85TE

Does anyone have info on re-wiring the door switches with relays - I suspect theres not much point in just replacing the motors.
Hi,
I wrote the procedure for the 'G' cars. It may need some slight modification for the later cars such as the location of the power leads you want to tap into etc., but these will be pretty evident.
Shoot me an email and I'll send it to you. You'll need some wire, 4 relays and holders, assorted connectors. All described in the parts list I included. Pretty simple figure 3-4 hours, less if you're accustomed to doing the work. Happy Motoring!... Jim'85TE
Hi Jim,
That sounds very good. I was getting ready to just start on it anyhow as I was able to rebuild my headlight motors with no kit or any hints. Electric motors are similar, and as Hess pointed out you can make things work. But your guide could save a lot of time and I'd be appreciative. My email is %rlearp"AT"gt40s.com%, of course missing the " and % and translating the AT.
Thanks much,
Ron

Ron,
I've been through all those 'Vette window motor numbers and never had any luck. In fact they were way off. My Esprit is an '89 non SE, but I had to get my motors out of a '91 XJS. They were a perfect fit. I'm sure most post '90 XJS Jags would work. I paid $160 for the pair with the regulators. The Regulators turned out to be useless however because the motors were mounted on the wrong sides of the regulators. They look almost identical put upon further review, they were no good. Good Luck,
Kenny
