All,

I need to decide by tomorrow whether or not to send some parts off for paint (so they'll be part of a batch and back in time when my other work is complete.) I'm agonizing over it:

Should I have my rear plinth, the black trim around my taillights and door handles painted body color? I am leaning towards yes, but don't want to do it if it makes the car look silly (and perhaps I'm not seeing it.) I'd like some other eyes and opinions please.

Here is a bad photoshop job that shows what it might look like with the plinth and the taillights done.

I don't think the car would look bad at all, but I prefer the black for some reason. Don't know why.

Mike,

In case you did not know, Dermot O'Hare's S4 that is featured on LEW owner's pages has this done also. There are pictures there one can view. It is currently listed under GT3 & V8 owners even though it is a S4 I believe.

Or, you could go with a Carbon Fibre Plinth (like my friend Dan's Car):

As it so happens, I just might be able to scare one (and only one) up

My opinion is to stick with the black (carbon looks good). I think it makes the car stand out more (if that's possible) with the black on it for contrast. I remeber when Ferrari changed, I did not think the Ferrari 308s & 328s looked good with body color air vents in front. I like like the contrasting colors... just my vote

Dammit, just lost everything I typed cause the site hanged for a moment.

Anyways, to summarize, thanks for the tip on the Dermot car. The voting here and on the turboesprit list has swung towards keeping it black, but right now I am leaning more heavily towards doing it. Dunno, just feels right the more I think of it.

And if I don't like it, I can always get a new plinth and a used set of Toyota lights, right?

Mike (not decided yet, but leaning...)

I like the colour coding. I really didn't like the black on my v8 so i had it done about a week after i got the car.

Sorry its a small pic..

The red looks great, depends on how far you want to mod it really. If you want to make it individual Mike style, why ask us Mod as you please to please yourself I say. If you wanted to keep your car stock, then I say no stick with the black one, but I have the feeling that your going to paint it red anyway by the sounds of it?

I think you should stick with the black. Just looks a bit sharper to me. This might sound a bit odd but the picture with the red plaque reminds me of someone who's waxed their eyebrows when compared with the black plaque! (maybe because the black has been removed from around the lights as well.)
Just my 2p worth.

I'm glad! It will def be "yours" now... looking at it today I kinda like it. Tomorrow, I'll be back to the black... BUT... it is your car. It can always be changed!

I agree, I often look at how mine has been modded up, but I like it that way. I can always buy the parts to make her original again if I had to.
