the perfect car I got needs stuff already.. hahaha, that is half of why I got it, I knew I would have fun projects.

Fuel vapour line.. failed like clockwork, car was fine in California, but first cold day in Canada and it desintegrated in a million pieces.
Window mechanism broke a plastic slider $6 at JAE..
The door handle problem below.
The brake bomb needs changing - pump cycles every 2nd application.
I worry about timing belt.. maybe an inspection... hard to get consistant advice.
charge cooler pump, should be dead by everyone's experience, I still have not driven the car enough to know if the cooler stays cool.
Rotors are a bit warped.. hmm and the owner said he never drove it hard. heheheh, as IF...
that should keep me out of the pubs for a few afternoons..
and did anyone notice that the car is hard to wash? not the roof mind you, but nooks and crannies and the double rear window. If you hose off the engine when hot, the steam fogs everything up.

Just mindless bantor really.. who is near to Toronto?
i was at the SAE show in Detroit yesterday and they were talkign about a meet this summer...

What...your hosing off the engine? Or you sprayed water down the open air vent side by mistake.
Try not to get water in the cavity of where the spark plugs sit, it gets trapped initially, hence dropping of cylinders.

Also, you don't want to spray water on a hot exhaust manifold unless you want to pull the motor and replace it!

ok, i know not to spray the manifold, but the engine must stay clean in my cars and there is always some steam.. I wonder what happens if you drive in the rain...? some water must get on the manifold/turbo

I use a steam cleaner with a hose that dries off in seconds.

Hi it was just from my own experiences when I degreased my entire engine and tranny not long after I bought it. I got this pool of water sitting in where the spark plugs were and thought holy crap thats a bad design. I got most of it out using towels etc but seemed water had worked its way further down two spark plugs after I fired it up, sounded like a tractor. So I can only suggest to people if you are going to use lots of water cleaning the engine to cover the plugs and any electrical bits. I now use a damp cloth and elbow grease to clean in there. As for the rain I have a glass back covering the vents so no rain gets in there from above. Have since spoken to other owners locally and they clean their engines with rags as well.

my bmws seem to tolerate lotsa hig pressure washing everywhere... I should be more careful with the lotus...
BTW I had an alfa 145 quadrifoglio verde when I lived in italy a few years ago and when i washed it with a hose attached to the local town fountain.. ( low pressure) it got in past the seals and shorted the plugs...
heheheeh and it was a TWIN SPARK... silly
