I was eyeing your profile, I had no idea you did that much work the car.

Question, have you any pics of your interior? Especially the gear knob!

Hi, I got the dreaded disease of wanting to tidy it up straight away when I got it and I can't seem to stop. I have an arm lists of things I still would like to do to it, but will just complete one project at a time. My CF bits are being finished off at the moment, so will promise to report back when they are complete. After that I have to decide which project to start next ensuring that I can finish it. Heres a pic of the interior I took from some time back, it now has the new gear knob and polished ring surround. Shocking pics I know, will take some decent ones soon.

And this one with the polished gear shift surround. I am yet deciding to scew it down properly as it dosent sit right. The leather can easily be taken off and replaced. So still thinking about that one.

The colour of the leather is tan with black inserts on the seats and door panels.

Wow, that shift knob is awesome! I always said I would shorten the shift stick also, and you did it perfectly. It fits the car better that way.

Curious, how did u shorten the stick, cut the top part and used a threader for the knob? How much did you take off?

Anyway, looks great, cant wait to see the CF parts!

We didn't shorten the stick I think its just an illusion from the pic perhaps the angle? Just shortend the throw. The only down side with shortening the throw is that it is a little notchy and 1-2 gear change is slow, you need to pump the gas for a quick gear change, changing down. I can live with that.
I gave this on-line procedure to a friend of mine here in NZ who has a SE to do, he was happy to try it first and he would help us do mine if I liked the feel of his. Which I loved. I think this person who did this procedure posts here on occasion too. The only thing I didn't do was a cut a hole in the boot, we just lifted the whole cover up and out of the way so everything was exposed to work on.

Very pretty. I kinda' like the black "stripe" on the interior. I'm so used to seeing white.

Oh I see. I guess it is the picture, it looks shortened in height!! Either way, the red Esprit in those pics are amazing! Thats all I want in life, Materialistic that is, just a nice Esprit. Thats it, thats all I ever materially desired.

If I get an SE, im chroming the wheels, it looks fantastic on the red!

I think Calvin has his polished which equally looks the bits. Not sure how much it would cost to get them polished as apposed to getting them chromed over there.

I think it looks better than the std black rubber one and performs better too. One of the reasons I changed it was when I did a track day over a year ago a friend with his SE was racing and to his horror the gear knob came off in his hand. So I thought bugger that and started to investigate other options. He has since glued his back on.

Could I ask how you added the emblem and where it's from?
You say its a S350 part, is that the same as the GT3/V8???

Hi its a after market fitting, I bought through a guy who also makes the polished ring suround on LEW and door sills. It was 50pounds by memory. But worth it It only has one grub screw in the side to secure it to the stalk, but you can easily drill another at a right angle for better grip. You have to take the black fixing cap off the top of the stalk that holds the black spongy gear knob on and the new one just fits nicely on top, enough room for the reverse collar to lift up. I have had lots of positive comments on it.

Hi
Mine being post '96 car has the chrome gearknob as standard, but no emblem on it which I always thought was a shame as it's such an evocative badge (I don't get one on the steering wheel either, but thats another story!)

Yeah this sounds bad LOL but I have had a play with the new knobs of the later cars and am very surpised why they dont have the logo, they seem very plain in comparison. And why is it that the shift stalks are longer? I personally like them shorter like the older cars. I cant see why they wouldnt fit the newer cars. You would want to investigate first though.

Not sure as to what type of mods would have to be regarding the way the reverse gate works on the "newer' shifters. I know the entire stick pulls up and over to engage reverse on the older cars (like mine), and the only collar pulls up on the newer stick. I guess you could swap out the entire shif assembly if the bolt pattern is the same ? But that would not be cheap...
