Oxygen (Lambda) sensor question?
Discussion
Hi All! I'm actually back on the road again!!! with my Esprit...
Got the new clutch in along with some other asorted bits. Still need to replace the water pump as it is leaking like a shower head!
I am also in need of an oxygen sensor. My problem is that I can not locate one on the net and the parts store just says "what's it going in?".... of course the answer is "sorry, we wont have that" without looking at the actual part.
Question: My beloved Esprit is an 88'. The sensor in the car is Bosch and the part number (sorry don't have it written down) does not seem to be locatable. The Esprit Fact File list a sensor that appears to be Bosch by the prefix code / 0-2580-003-022 / but I can not find it online either....
Can anyone give me a hand up and let me know where/who/approx. price I can get an O2 sensor for my baby?
Thanks to all in advance,
Drive topless!!!

Oxygen sensors can just about all be sub'ed depending on the number of wires they have. If I recall, my 89 uses a 3 wire sensor. Yours may as well. Easiest thing would be to take your old one down to the store and match it up by either going through the Bosh O2 sensor boxes or looking through the catalog. A lot of the time they just change the plug and give it a new part number. I really suggest going through the paper catalog and look for 3 wire sensors that look like yours. Should be fairly common. If I recall, the 3 wire systems have a supply, signal, +heater and the -heater is through the exhaust. The signal wire should be shielded (covered in braid). The catalog will have it all diagramed out for you.
Let me know if you find one that works and I'll put it on my site.

Found one!!!
0258 005 726 Bosch.... It took three books to locate a ubiversal senesor! Can you believe that? It spliced in quite nice and appears to be working...
However, it did not correct the "poping" I have... The sparl plugs are the proper color... but I thought it was running a bit on the lean side. Timming seems okay as the car has plenty of power, but I'm going to get a second opinion.

Let your injectors check.
If you have 1 or 2 injectors which leak a bit, resulting in a richer mixture to 1 or 2 cylinders, this will be seen by the O2 sensor as to rich, resulting the module to trigger all injectors a bit less.
This leads to a to lean condition on the other cylinders and popping.
