Hi all,

Newbie question coming. Beware.

OK, before I started reading this forum I replaced the spark plugs on my Esprit S3 as there was a problem starting it (which is sorted now and turned out in the end to be the fuel pump)

Anyways, I put some BOSCH Super Plus WR6D+ plugs in (as recommended by Halfords...hey I'm a newbie!). These have a gap of 0.8mm

The manual states that the gap should be 0.9mm so I re-gapped them to this distance.

My question is though, I am sure that it was actually running better with the 0.8mm gap.

How important is this gap with regards to the Esprit. Is it just my imagination that it was running smoother before hand (I tried it briefly at .8mm before adjusting the gap)?

Are these plugs any good? (I've been reading through the forums now and not seen these plugs mentioned so ... )

Thanks all for any comments.

Hi,

You should stick with the stock NGK plugs. These operate in the proper heat range.

The only advantage of these so-called Super plugs is that you'll be following the Chapman Mantra of "adding lightness" from the fewer sheckels you'll have to haul around with you after paying a premium for these plugs.

All kidding aside, in the Esprit, there is no advantage to going with anything but the stock plugs. All evidence to the contrary is merely anecdotal. Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE
