Lots of tar on the paint - solution
Discussion
The best thing I've found for removing just about anything from paint is clay.
I'm not trying to endorse this place but the clay works! It took off some paint from a cloud of paint near a construction area. My whole (black) car was covered with little specks of white paint. This stuff took it off. I also use it to remove cone marks after autocrossing.

on the low side of the door. Looking for something which won't harm the paint and the fiberglass.
AutoGlym do a "Tar Remover" Works very well on my red Gel coat, doesn't SEEM! to be doing any harm. Give it a go, but don't blame me if it causes problems at a later date, 'cause I'll be crying too!
