Good evening Chaps,
It has come to light that I will be in the UK from Australia for a work trip mid year. The dates will allow a bit of flexibility so with a bit of luck I should be able to have myself there for the Festival. The unfortunate thing is that nothing will be confirmed until about 8 weeks prior.

Now I'm happy to buy tickets for it on spec, but I'm figuring an event like this will have accomodation in the area at a short supply.

What are my chances of finding somewhere to stay at short notice?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers, Matt

You must also buy the tickets in advance - it is not possible to buy tickets at the gate.

Unless you get very lucky, due to cancellations etc. You will find it pretty impossible to find accommodation near to Goodwood, on spec during the FOS or revival meetings. Most places book out months in advance, most years.

Tickets available usually up to almost last minute but best book online and pick up tickets at collection point on the day/s. As far as accomodation goes it would be available but not within 15-20 miles of Goodwood. Given that its easy to get to I would look in Surrey (Godalming, Haslemere, Chiddingfold, Farnham), Sussex (Brighton, Arundel, Worthing) or Hampshire (Portsmouth, Havant, Waterlooville). There may be something more local ie Chichester, Petworth, Bognor Regis or Littlehampton but don't expect it. Hope it works out for you.

Matt, tickets at short notice aren't too much of a problem but, like the others have pointed out, accommodation is. The question is though, where are you going to be based whilst you're in the UK? Goodwood is only about 60-90 minutes from Central(ish) London on some very nice roads. Hiring a car for the day(s) may well be a better bet.

Thanks for the input guys,
I intend to get tickets well before the event, so that part wont be a problem.
I do tend to forget about the size of the U.K and if decent accommodation is available within an hours drive the whole exercise wont be a problem as I will be hiring car anyway.
I shall do some research closer to the event.

Once again, thanks for your help.
Cheers, Matt

Just for anyone's info, brand new hotel just opened in Burgess Hill - Premier Inn, one of the chain, and about 1 hrs drive from Goodwood.

Matt, i've just seen your profile - i think you could well have the means to trump most of the members on here with a means of getting to the FOS!!!

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I couldn't really see the company being particularly keen on giving me a lend.
That said though, it would make for quite an entrance!

I'm going to the FoS for first time this year with family but not booked accomodation. Considering camping. Done the Le Mans camping thing many times, which is lots of fun albeit not for kids. Anyone camped at FoS? What are the sites like, and atmosphere? Is it feasible to take two young sons with me, aged 8 and 6??? The other option is to drive about an hour each way but camping sounds like fun. Advice welcomed.

I camped on the official site in 2009. It was dead handy for access - about 5 minutes' walk from the main entrance. There was a travelling shop that visited the site every morning so you could buy bacon and eggs etc, and just a quick stroll to the hotel for a pint in the evening.

It was not really comparible to Le Mans, however, even Goodwood is not immune from generator-toting 'campers'. I'll camp again, but I will be taking earplugs!

Just spotted this thread. I've got a large (up to 18 people) holiday home that's available for the FOS and Revival. I'm consious that I mustn't flog the website on the forum so by all means email me if you want details.
