Ok I'm booked on for uplift this weekend. Anyone been? Any tips? I'll start on the blue runs and warm up. What's parking like? I'm going arrive early early ready for the first uplift.
I've dusted off my ancient fullfacer and ice got my core only body protection vest ready.
Went 2 weeks ago on my own as last minute day off work (previous went 2 week before that as a 1st timer). Loads of parking. Usually pretty busy, everyone very friendly. Blue runs are pretty fast so take it easy on first run. I seem to be the only one just wearing t-shirt and shorts, everyone else has some sort of body armour. Watch out for the bus lunch break usual around 1pm to 2pm as no uplift available unless they are doing their staggered lunches (doesn't always happen).I've dusted off my ancient fullfacer and ice got my core only body protection vest ready.
For blue runs:-
I love Sixtapod, really fast, with a few jumps and you end up near the bus uplift.
Melted Welly is more technical with a bit of a mini-climb half way, but still uber fun.
I can usually manage about 8 downhill runs in a session.
Enjoy, I love the place, just wish I had more time off work to go.
We went mid week a few weeks ago. I was riding my OnOne 456 hardtail but a full complement of armour as provided by a mate (thankfully didn't fall off, but even on the blue's you could do yourself some serious damage as they are fast!) We rode all of the Blues and all of the Reds. They have got 'qualifier' features at the start of the red runs, which give you an idea of what the rest of the trail will be like. If you can nail the qualifier with no issues then the rest will be a blast.
We managed 11 runs despite my mates best efforts to slow us down with random mechanical failures!
Best day I've ever had on a bike, can't wait to go back!

You'll have a great time.
There's plenty of parking, but the carpark has that 'just shelled' feel that a lot of bike places have if you're driving something low and sporty.
Centre opens 30 mins before the first bus, be careful on the run to the bus pick up, it's got some shady little jumps for nervous/excited riders. People do crash before they even see the bus ha ha.
Blues are great, reds are brilliant fun but whilst all the red jumps are rollable and/or don't have gaps you have to make, some of the red graded drops CANNOT be rolled so look before you leap.

I'm back! My favourite has to be the red section of trail that runs upto the tunnel. It's a red but I can't think of it's name? It's almost natural feeling without the groomed kitty litter trail centre surfacing. Fantastic uplift service but ...Hmmm a night out in Merthyr was another 'interesting''!

Above, from the drop off onwards then into the hard pack dry earth before. What I didn't like was there was always riders stood chatting just after the tunnel. Get out of the way!
How many runs did you get in? I did 7-8 before 1 o'clock (I was also there yesterday).
Ah I think I know the one, it's blisteringly fast. How many runs did you get in? I did 7-8 before 1 o'clock (I was also there yesterday).
I did 4-5 I think, I live fairly local so tend to drop up for a morning and take a chance on one-off lifts, I was home again for lunch.
Once you get the lay of the land you can loop certain sections, cut and paste bits of trails etc.
Using this vid as a guide (not mine). My fave trail was Viscous Valley leading into Surfin bird

Was there at the weekend with the Mrs and love it there. She came off twice including on the run to the uplift! Vicious Valley/surfer bird/insufficient funds is my favourite run down. https://youtu.be/YEkNUd4jNHI
Rode Pork Belly for the first time and the first drop is scary!
Just booked 2 days in May today. Was there last year on my cheap hardtail and loved it, planning on hiring one of their full sus bikes this year. I'm also sitting here trying to buy a cheap full face helmet on EBay after watching my mate headbut a tree last year.
After staying Merthyr last year, we shall be avoiding it like the plague this year, Abergavenny this year.

Is £60 cheap enough? Brand new ones on CRC that you know haven’t been sweated in
