I'd go along with that.

Third time TDF winner last year even failed to make the shortlist Sports Personality of the Year.

Not sure it about unpopularity - I'd guess it's lack of awareness (in the shadow of Bradley amongst the general public) and possibly peoples cynical view of cycling (drugs).

Edited for clarity. Also agree with below smile

As far as I'm aware his team is still under investigation by UKAD, he's also the most dominant rider in a toxic sport and he's barely British. Reason enough to steer clear.

He's the new Zola Budd.

Surprised no one has suggested everyone hates him because he's a cyclist.

I think unfortunately he lacks some personality in front of the cameras at least, bland interviews were he always thanks his team mates etc etc. Now you could say then why is Andy Murray so popular, but i guess he has become lovable because he is so so bad at interviews. Froome just seems to be in that boring middle ground and whatever he achieves is going to be secondary to that in the public eyes.

Can't say I'm a fan of Murray either.

But this is about Chris Froome Being Britain's least popular sportsman. Quite an achievement for a quadruple Tour de France winner, I'm sure you'd agree.

My feelings about Murray are irrelevant.

Seems like a nice enough bloke. Does have a bit of a physical advantage at the moment for these tour
races probably due to his upbringing in Kenya and south africa.
Maybe people are not over the moon about how he changed nationality to british once he got success

I doubt he is our least popular sportsman. That's a bit of a stretch from not being the most popular.

I don't think he gets the populist recognition he obviously deserves, but I doubt he's bothered.

I think he's more popular than people think, it's just that the media don't latch onto him much.

I think he's fantastic, his achievements speak for themselves. Sure cycling has had its issues with drugs, but so has athletics, doesn't make every competitor a drug cheat.

Yes, just look at Mo Farrah.

Froome's achievements certainly do speak for themselves.
