What MTB gift for £30?
Discussion
Hi,
I have to get a present for someone interested in MTB for approx £30 and other than Gloves or a Jersey etc I don't know what would be a good gift.
I was going to order a custom Jersey but for a single one they're well outside of what I have to spend.
It doesn't have to be too serious but would rather get something useful.
Any suggestions?

Do they have a particular trail centre they ride at? Not really a useful gift in any way but these trail map prints are quite cool for the man cave.

If they have had the same bike for a while, a new set of grips could be a winner. Santa Cruz Palmdale, RaceFace Half Nelson, ODI Ruffian, Ergon GS1. There are loads of good options. I changed mine recently and it really does help the feel of the bike.
And you can never have too many good pairs of gloves!

How about a gift voucher for some skills training or a days guiding somewhere away from their local area? Around here (Calderdale) I know of at least one fully qualified coach/guide who would offer a place on a half day training course or a full days guiding for £30.
The skills training probably makes more difference than any other bike upgrade and a guided day out is always fun in a 'not having to think too much about where you're going', sort of way.

A gift voucher for an uplift day at Bike Park Wales or similar (assuming they're not weird and like XC).
Says the "storm trooper" in his weird body armour, full face helmet, and 'downhill pyjamas'......buy a lighter bike and bloody-well ride up to earn your turns on the downhills!

I avoid the storm trooper look and don't mind pedaling up hills as a means to an end....buy a lighter bike and bloody-well ride up to earn your turns on the downhills!

Unless you're racing, I don't think there's much point in a full DH bike in the UK. An enduro bike is the way forward as it lets you ride pretty much anything; up or down...

This is what I would have suggested from reading the title. I got one for my birthday yesterday.http://www.trailmaps.co.uk
Not cheap for what it is but if its for someone who rides alone a lot, I think this makes a good gift
