Specially at the moment when it gets below 0 and is super windy, the wind just sucks the life out of me and I get ill almost everytime I have to ride or even walk in it, lately I just drive a car if I see the wind is crazy- sucks so bad frown

I wear wool socks, all merino baselayer (pants/shirt) + Cashmere jumper+ down windbreaker + Merino Buff as a balaclava +wool hat , I'm mostly wind-proof till the neck are, however the damn wind still blows in my face and completely f.cks me up, I saw someone today was wearing a large builder googles (almost like a ski-mask) ,looked weird but maybe it helped him? I don't have any cycling glasses myself.

What do you do? What's the secret?

Getting ill suggests your core isn't warm enough. Do your hands/feet get cold - that's usually the first sign of your core not being warm enough.

Normal glasses will help keep the wind out of your eyes, but sounds as though your head is at least covered.

Don't invest in new shoes/boots or any ''super special cycling gear''
My secret; I wear cycling gear.

It has wind stopper built in, at those temperatures I just wear a merino base layer on top, either leg warmers/thermal bib tights, my bioracer winter jacket, all which is a pretty tailored fit. If it gets colder, a mid layer. Never required additional leg layer. I have winter boots, merino socks. I always wear glasses to stop muck in winter/flies in the summer getting in my eyes. I find i overheat using a buff.

Plenty warm enough for the longest rides I’ll put in over winter.

I have been going out in the coldest of days all be it only 3 hr runs. I find a base T shirt one of my Autum overshirts with a waterproof jacket on top. Trousers are winter ones, two pairs of socks, shoes with neoprene overshoes, warm as toast.

I'm fine down to a good few degrees below freezing with just the following, as long as you don't cruise round in Zone 1 and put a little effort in I never get cold at all wearing the folloiwng:

Normal Bibs
Sportful No Rain/Castelli Nanoflex Leg & Arm Warmers
DHB winter t-shirt baselayer
Gabba short sleeve jersey
Normal summer socks
Oversocks (or Velotoze if its raining)
Endura Winter gloves (or neoprene gloves if its raining)

I've been commuting the last few weeks in as low as -3c, I've been wearing:

Craft extreme windstopper base layer
Either Altura Roubaix long sleeve jersey or Rapha winter jersey
Neck buff
Winter hat
Winter gloves
Santini Roubaix tights
Merino winter socks
Overshoes

First few minutes are a bit chilly but once going and warmed up I've been fine.

Simple: Zwift.

Sorry smile

Personally I'm pretty warm apart from hands and can dress for it; my hot-tip being using my motorbike gloves (clunky, but solves the hand problem). However unless there's a really, really good reason, I'm more concerned about finishing up on my ass with a broken collarbone etc. Can't remember the last time it was sub-zero and really properly dry here.

I decided getting back out on a road bike that I wasn’t going to suffer. I hate the cold as it is and wasn’t going to make training any more uncomfortable.e than it needed to be.

I have spent a fair bit on loads of Castelli stuff, but just having the right bits and being able to mix and match for weather variations has made things a lot more comfortable.

Not been too cold out and about, but been really impressed with;

Tops: perfetto jacket & espresso jacket (for really cold)
Bib tights: LW tights, nanoflex pro (for really cold/wet)
Gloves: Spettacolo (lovely and warm) also the diluvio c gloves which are good but do get sweaty.

Then mix and match short or long sleeve base layer depending on weather. Also have whole assortment of headwear again to suit weather. Decent overshoes (fizik) has also made a big difference to feet comfort. Considering their artica winter shoe for next winter.

It’s made such a huge difference simply having the right gear on both for comfort and warmth.
