Why does it suddenly “need a spacer” now if the only thing that’s changed is a like-for-like bearing?

And £60 for a bearing? Big windows in that shop?

Seems they're not standard sized so not readily available - friend of mine mentioned the issue about his Canyon.
Check which type you need (some models differ e.g. Canyon Ultimate CF SLX 2016 onwards, but link quotes bearings needed for that type

Usually the headset comes apart if you cannot get the bearing size you can buy a digital gauge from eBay ,I know it's a bit of messing around but bearing sets can be massively expensive you can get a good quality bearing set for about £7.00 , they shouldn't give you the bike with a knocking Headset .

Did they supply and fit a bearing assembly kit? It should have an upper and lower bearing and also a compression ring.

Adjusted it using their guide? https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/service/supportcenter...

Info on Acros Ai 70 headset bearing sizes https://www.boards.ie/b/thread/2057377943/2 see post 23
"For anyone interested in the bearing dimensions for the Acros Ai-70 headset, I got this from Acros directly:

the dimensions of the cartridge bearings are:

AC3748 = 48 mm x 37 mm x 7 mm
61707 = 35 mm x 44 mm x 5 mm"

Issue with knock sounds like a missing spacer. How's your German? Link to pdf diagrams http://info.acros.de/en/service-2/
(Click on headsets at foot of page for various types)

Surely if they're replacing like with like (as they claim to be doing), then the spacer that came off the old headset is perfectly good for the new headset?

Canyon spacers have annoying notches in them, so you must make sure they're the right way up/round if on top of another or there will be play as the spacers fit together like bits of lego almost. Could be the issue.

They can get away with being so cheap as everything is done by them. And they have among the worst customer service I've ever seen.
