I picked up a puncture on the way to work this morning, I didn't have a spare (as I fitted that on Tuesday and didn't have a spare, spare...)

Anyway, I have a Halfords opposite, they sell Michelin, Schwalbe, Continental and their own brand. Are there any recommendations for a road/gravel bike inner tube? Most important quality is puncture resistance!

p.s The main thing is getting home, so not fussed if they are all rubbish, just the least rubbish will do for now!

Seems I should go for a butyl tube as its a commuting bike.

I'm assuming they're all much of a muchness though?

Inner tubes are vastly less important than tyres. Any will do - I have a mix of everything from halfords own brand to fancy continental ones on my bikes.

Check what type of puncture you got - snakebite = underinflated tyre, single point = something's pierced the tyre - make sure you find and remove it before refitting, if you get these commonly get a tougher tyre

Halfords own brand tend to be the rubbish in my experience , bloody faulty valves and always seem to puncture where the valve is sealed to the inner tube , Schwalbe and conti have never given me grief

Buy ones with removal cores, add tubeless sealant, in my 35c setup it takes 40ml, should stay fluid for 2 years and mitigate most punctures.

Thanks for the replies.

I went for some Conti's in the end as they were reduced.

My mini pump let me down, got enough air in to get home, but was soft so it made the journey home a ball ache!
