I'm thinking I might ride some circuits of the Surrey Hills tomorrow (5th April) and wondered what state they're in, are they OK or covered in crap or a pleasant(ish) ride?

Looking at Fetcham, Newlands hill, Leith Hill (twice), Box Hill (Twice) Fetcham not knowing the area that well will that be a reasonable ride or is there an improvement?

Also anyone fancy joining me?

Assuming you mean road, not off road?

There are a fair number of large potholes out there so keep your eyes peeled, especially on the descents. Bound to also be some standing water left tomorrow. Box Hill is probably the best surface wise.

It's April, it's been raining for days, there will be a lot of mud about.

Newlands Corner and Box Hill very very popular spots at the weekend with local people
i.e. posh Surrey types.

Certainly worth avoiding at the weekends and it's arguable they will be quiet enough for
reasonable progress during the week.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll be mostly staying in avoiding the rain and checking the
postbox for speeding tickets.

Whilst I haven't been to that part of Surrey hills, I can confirm the roads in Surrey and surrounding hills are pretty crappy.

The snow has damaged many roads, potholes in places I've never seen them, detritus everywhere. The drains are overflowing as the water table is so high - I went through a few 30cm road covering puddles on yesterday's and following more rain today's commute - my bike is filthy, that's running 35's and mudguards. We have more rain forecasted from midday until 9pm..

Just to feedback that the roads weren't too bad, no real water on them nor signs of wash from the fields.... a few potholes but not as bad as cash strapped Northamptonshire so quite pleasant!
