Want a new pair of bibs for long rides over the summer. Anyone spotted any good deals on a half decent pair, or have any recommendations on brands/models to look out for.

I'm 80kg/6'2" and don't want to spend more than £100.

Cheers

Merlin have the Lusso Aero 50 for £40 (£60rrp), seem to get good reviews.

Galibier have a few options, they review well but I've had a few items from them now and they are not quite the finished article IMO.

These are the best shorts I've ever used and can't recommend them highly enough. Bargain at £80 and medium would fit you (I am the same height/weight as you)

Love my current Castilli Free Aero Race (Kit version) shorts.

Not under £100 though.

Thanks for the links. Question now is, 2x £40 pairs or one £80 pair.... or one £40 pair and some new tyres...

Had some good deals on email recently from Morvelo, I've got their bibs but their other stuff is my favourite kit.

I bought a pair of Rivelo Honister bibs in a SportPursuit ‘sale’, and they impressed me enough that I bought another three pairs. Some of the other lads and lasses from the club have them now as well, nobody has a bad word to say about their comfort, but they can be a bit warm in summer.

I'll add to this. Bought a pair on the back of a recommendation on here and I've been very impressed. Great for a fondo, and I've not felt that they were too warm as I tried them in low/mid 20s a couple of week ago and that's about as hot as it gets around here. Rivelo make some really nice stuff for good money.

After a few rides in the Lusso progel cooltec shorts, I have to say I'm impressed. Neatly stitched, wide, soft bib straps. Pad seems quite firm which hopefully means it should last ok. Plain black so go great with retro jerseys smile

Legs are cut on the long side which I was pleased about as I'm 6'2" and the gripper strip at the bottom is about an inch wide and not too tight.

But most importantly I did 91 miles in them on Saturday which no discomfort during the ride and no tenderness the day after. So I think they have passed the test smile Great value, would buy more in the future.

I bought a pair of Gore bibs a while ago on a whim from Amazon. They have been my favourite pair despite only picking them because they were cheap, so have stuck with Gore ever since. Same tech as Castelli I believe but can sometimes be cheaper.
