Commuter hybrid

Morning all.
Need to grab a bike for the 2 mile ride to and from the train station on a new commute. I understand hybrid is best for this, and I had a look on eBay to see what's about, this being very local - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dawes-mean-street-Gents...
Guy says it will be serviced before collection (notice rusty chain) but I'm wondering is this a good buy or should I go new? I can't really see that it will make much difference for a short commute but then I know nothing about bikes.
