Missus loved her 810 once we got the firmware right - did thousands on it. I do though remember the same thing happening. I'd plan a route on Connect, put it on the 810 and off we'd go. I half knew the route and at those intersections it would start beeping as if we'd gone off course. At first I thought it was me but on checking the route I was right!

It's on ebay right now if anyone wants it!

Op - similar thing on my edge 520 (or 510? I can't remember). You have to download the routes in advance but if said route has a loop on it then it's not clear on arrivIng at the beginning of the loop which way to go round it. Sod's law I normally get it wrong and then need to double back. Even when then getting onto the right road/loop entrance it is often some time before it will say 'course found' so you end up wondering if your first choice was right after all.

Wahoos don't suffer from this affliction, in my experience. Perhaps if I arrived at a route intersection fro the middle of nowhere it would have to decide which leg to take - must try that one day! Implication is other Garmin models are OK also?

I don't suffer that either on my Wahoo, mine are built up on ridewithgps.

Dizzee, how are you building the routes and cue sheets?

I've got a Garmin 800 and create routes in Strava then export the GPX to the Garmin, I don't have any issues like this, the only annoyance I have is that turn guidance always defaults to OFF, so I have to manually switch it ON when starting the route.

I found my 810 crap to begin with but I learnt it just needs a decent TCX file. I re-drew my courses in RidewithGPS and they work fine now. That site does warn about intersections and if they are drawn properly it will give st directions.

Biggest problem I find if you are a mega ride is using the nav drains the battery massively

Have ridden multiple routes both off and on road in different coumtries and never had a problem with my 810. In fact it’s much better than the 820 I replaced it with. I use Strava for my routes and export to gpx and use openstreet maps on the device.
