Just wondering if any pistonheaders are riding the dragon on Sunday. I've accidentally signed up for the 230km. Riding with a bunch of non car nuts, until they leave me for dead. I'm the one on a green and carbon de rosa rock racing bike, probably going backwards.

Seems a bit of a shame to have the Alpina there and no time for the Welsh roads!

Good luck if you're riding.

Couple of people I know did it, 300km is bloody tough going over that way!

We did the Blwch - Rhigos - Blwch a few weeks ago, pretty epic.

I did the medio fondo, 153 KM. Nice route. Feel surprisingly okay today, the headwind at the end absolutely kicked my arse as I somehow ended up completely on my own.

Chapeau to the 225 and 300 KM riders!!

Did the 300k.

Overall not happy with the event. Won’t bother again.

What didn't you like, Luke?

I did the 230 and wasn't impressed with the feed stops- I'm sure I saw a picture on the site prior to the event with tables loaded with SIS gels, so I only carried 3, and they didn't have any SIS gels. Not the end of the world but I wasn't happy!

Quoting myself from another thread, but you get the gist!

. £90 Entry (Think we paid £65 as a group though)
. Pasta Party.............Where was this Pasta party exactly? No "village" the day before
. Can't go through car-park to start on bikes, so have to bike through a field with gravel! Watched two blokes stack it.
. Marshals who genuinely didn't give a crap, and stood at points on phones, not letting us know if traffic is coming.
. Tacks all over the road 10 mile in. Disgusting.
. Our little group used 5 inner tubes here, so we bought some more at feedstop......£7 each for cheap Valverts!
. The food at feed station 2 left out in the sun, so all melted!
. Cheapest awfullest drink powder. Tried a gel too, give me gut ache.

Route was signposted well though.

Yeah that all sounds accurate! Two of our gang switched to the 300 the night before and got hit by the tack attack. Lost at least 45 minutes.

We're hoping to get into the Maratona next year, by ballot or going with a tour if we have to. Guaranteed the pasta will be better!

Our moving time was 9:40, actual time 11:20, and we only stopped at two feeds. Rest was mechanical.

The tacks where disgusting. But even worse was the mechanics at the feed-stops charging £7 each.

We're looking at one of the monuments........cheaper, closed roads, better organized etc.
