First bike in half a century!
Discussion
I've been on PH since 2009 and never even read this section until yesterday, and here I am posting in it!
Having not owned a bike for literally 50 years, I suddenly decided to take the plunge again and bought this last week.

Seeing the sort of thing you lot ride around on I'm sure it will be greeted with gales of laughter but what the hell. I wanted something cheap to start with, after all I may find I don't even like cycling any more.

I went for a folder because I don't have much room to store it, also it fits nicely into the car boot - and how else was I going to get it home?

This was less than £60 on eBay and looks hardly used - a new one would be £100 so I don't think I did too badly. 20" wheels and a Shimano 6-speed.

If I do get bitten by the bug, then I can always upgrade to something a bit better later on. For now i'm trying to read as much as I can and improve my knowledge, and scanning eBay for more bits and tools for it.
(Apologies for crap pix, they're what the seller took. I'll take some better ones, when I've got something better to photograph.)

Bought my first folding bike a few months back and I'm absolutely in love with it. I've just moved to the outskirts of town - to pop in for a coffee would be a 30 minute walk or an 8 minute cycle, and then you can fold it up and bring it into the cafe with you! Hooked.
Enjoy your new bike, take every opportunity to go out for a spin, you'll love it.

My bike came back from the LBS (where it was having a couple of adjustments done) yesterday and I went out on it this afternoon for my first bike ride since, by my reckoning, 1971. My God. Only went twice round the block and came back knackered. Couldn't get higher than third gear.
I'd completely failed to foresee that, not having ridden for so long, I now have no leg muscles! It's going to take me a while to get back in shape.
Not as wobbly as I feared I'd be, although steering accuracy hasn't returned yet.

We moved house some months back and I've been out a couple of times on my faithful bike - one of Halford's best, with front suspension. There are plenty of tracks to ride on. Also mended a puncture with great rapidity as I used to but pinched the tube and had a catastrophic puncture as a result, so had to walk home! I bought the bike about 14 years back as mild off roading bent the wheels on my old Carlton. It's my first ever new bike and has been excellent!

I would really, hope that's not the case, as this is a very nice little area of PH, where people don't even laugh at those who actually choose to spend their leisure time riding bikes on tarmac when they could be mountain biking instead, buuut.....Is it really called a "Challenge Gauntlet"??? Where on earth do they come up with these names???
Maybe it's folding to make it easier for you to pick it up and slap some blaggard around the face to call him out when he insults your lady's honour?Anyway, enjoy riding again!
