Bike with kids in front..... Darwinism?

I used to have one of those trailer type ones when my boys were little. I wouldn't have used that anywhere congested or busy, or with particularly fast traffic. But I don't think they should be banned.
What's worse, that I see quite frequently, is parents using a pram to try and stop traffic.... just shoving the pram off the pavement partially into the road before they've even checked if it's clear. Unfortunately, you can't ban idiocy.

We need more of these and similar in London, and less of the cars? If all the school run vehicles were not on the road at once, like on school holidays there is a noticeable difference. Take even more vehicles off the road and it could help all of us and the environment.

I am a big fan of cars, but I prefer to be able to drive it, not just sit in a queue.

I've got one of these which I used a few times with my lad when he was younger, though to be fair that was around quiet roads and park cycle lanes. I don't see less cars and more cycles on roads as being a bad thing, particularly for things like the school run where many people will be driving less than two miles.

I used to have a seat on the back for daughter, which then became a tow-along when she got a bit bigger.
She liked being on the bike, but because she was behind me we couldn't really hold a conversation, and I couldn't see what she was doing.
Having them in front means you can see whats going on, and the danger on a bike usually comes from behind as you can avoid stuff in front of you. It's not like the guy is going to be doing TdF speeds on it.
More bikes on the roads mean less pollution, less traffic, fewer jams, less road wear... lots of benefits to car drivers

How are they at greater risk in front than being behind?
I think it is better they are there as others have said with traffic coming from behind and you can see what they are doing.

More kids are knocked down and killed by cars when crossing the road than killed in these bike things, so maybe we should ban cars, roads and kids to solve the problem 
Clearly this wouldn't have bothered the OP if it were in any other city but OP loves a London bashing due to an irrational hatred of the place so wouldn't read anything into it, I have seen these on the roads of London for years and not heard any stories personally of children being killed in one.

We have one of these Kangaroo bikes (sample picture, not me or my kids):
It's a bit heavy and slow up the hills of Devon, and doesn't corner particularly well. It has the benefit of having the kids where you can see them and is shorter overall than with a trailer.
I would love to see more of them used instead of the normal cars on the school run. The one in the OP looks fantastic as it seems to lean with the rider. That's very cool.
