Hi

After my earlier post, I got a stem riser for my daughters frog bike.

Problem I am having is that the new screw won't centre and hence I can't fize the cover properly leaning the stem exposed to rain /dust.

I have never done this s before so no idea I'd I am doing something wrong.

Thanks

The star nut is misaligned, (the bit the bolt goes into) fit a longer bolt and tap with a hammer till straight. (You can buy a star nut fitting too).

Just push it over until it is central, then fit the cap.

It should centre alright, but don’t force it if it won’t, you will just bend the screw.

Fitting a SFN is one exercise where you really need the proper tool. I've fitter loads of headsets using a B&Q bought threaded rod, bolts and plates but SFN needs either a shop or a proper tool.

^ that is a hammer and screw job
