I'm probably gonna get banned from this forum for posting st stuff... hehe

If you're willing to indulge me, I want to add some "pop" to the bike - it's all bit muted and subdued for my tastes. So far, I've been thinking gold bottle cages. Possibly yellow? My imagination is kinda failing me here a bit!

Here's the bike (this isn't *MY* bike, just for illustrative purposes)

That's a lovely colour, personally I'd lose the tan-wall tyres and black out everything to make the most of the pretty frame colour...potentially not the most helpful suggestion given your post, but highly colour coded (especially purple-vomit) bikes look a bit naff in my eyes smile

The tan sidewalls is the aspect that allows me to live with the otherwise boring colour scheme paperbag

They're staying!

Under no circumstances get rid of the tan sidewalled tyres! Everyone knows tan tyres look pro and therefore make your bike faster.

I’ve got a few gold accents on my bike. KMC chain, JRC stem cap, computer mount and jockey wheels and Supacaz black and gold bottle cages. Enough to lift things a bit without being OTT, in my opinion.

That colour is beautiful. Tell you what, just give your bike to me, save you the terrible strain of having to look at it wink

Actually, as above - tan bar tape, maybe tan saddle.
It's a classy colour, so I reckon "loud" accessories will look dreadful. Gold might work, but you'll need to extend to at least the chain, and there'll be a fine line overall between tasteful vs tasteless (or wow vs whoops).

In the meantime, a wash, clay polish and wax, then only ever ride it on sunny days so the flake in the paint really sparkles smile

Yep, bar tape in tan. Changing bar tape completely changes the look of a bike, IMO.

See, this is why I asked!

Right, I'll bin the gold details idea and go with tan bar tape. Only snag is, I've never applied bar tape before.

If I fk this up, I'm blaming you lot.

Similar situation myself, my Giant Revolt is very boring.

laughtongue out

Look up a video to get an idea of the best application. I must admit I cocked up a couple of rolls of bar tape in my yoof by going too quickly.

I would look at silver parts instead of gold. Will look classy as apposed to trashy.
I agree on tan bar tape and a classic tan seat.

Flip the stem over and put the spacers under it, not on top of it like they are now - you should be able to get the bars in more or less exactly the same place but it'll look much better.

Colour-matched seatclamp, headset spacers and bottle cages.

That isn't *my* bike, I just used the photos to illustrate. The spacers on mine aren't on top - I couldn't handle the aesthetics of that!

If changing the bar tape to tan, I would also change the saddle to tan as well.

Charge spoon saddle in Tan is a budget option. I did this to my winter bike a few years ago.

My road bike also with brown/tan bar tape and seat. (Needed bar tape for new bars and already had seat from another bike)). Does look nice/on retro trend with with tan wall tyres.

Personally I think it looks great as it is. But if you don't like it:

You're welcome.
