Group intercom - iphones?

Family of four regularly out cycling, but communication between us all is a pain...

I’ve found an app called Zello, which turns iPhones into a push to talk walk-in talkie, great when walking but not too safe when cycling, can’t seem to find a Bluetooth handlebar button that activates...

All have iPhones, thought about a constant WhatsApp call with all on it, but that just shares the gasping sounds when going uphill and munches data on a day trip.

Anyone cracked this?

Is it possible for one phone to setup a conference call, everyone is dialled in, and you're on mute until you want to speak? Wouldn't use data, just the free allocated mins, and you wouldn't hear the breathing.
Could also do this with WhatsApp too, depending on how your data is allocated, I didn't think that WhatsApp used that much data in a call.

Use Discord. Thats what we use for Zwift ZRL/TTT races with team spread all over the world and it works a treat.

Really after something with the Ptt feature, but ideally with a button the handlebar.

AirPods work for some of us, but touching the Apple Watch face to use the walkie talkie feature whilst riding is likely to result in a crash

Realising I can buy a lot of data for the price of some of the hardware, which seems to mostly be out of stock

They have to practically shout at each to be heard. Pretty annoying, when you live in a village with the houses and gardens sitting close to the road. On a nice day, 5 second shouted part-conversations are a regular occurance. Something which would allow conversation at normal speaking level would be a good idea! (or stfu as you go through a quiet village!)
