My ride from last night didn't upload on my v1 Bolt, I then found the issue that the file had defaulted to 2006. Managed to fix that on fitfiletools but the GPS route was all over the place and my elevation didn't start registering on the device until about 5 miles into the ride.

Time to upgrade to Bolt v3? shame really as it's been faultless up to now

That's funny. I was riding at the weekend with someone who complained his Wahoo unit was suddenly playing up, must be this...

I wonder if this is some kind of cynical move from wahoo to get people to upgrade?

Anyway, it worked

I know Garmin isn't perfect. But they are a MASSIVE company compared to Wahoo. And its the tech support side of things that worries me with Wahoo, so whilst my Trainer is a Kickr, I don't have an Elemnt computer

Here's the status page from Wahoo on what they're doing about the fix.

To be fair to them, they do seem to be working on it, and so far it's been very reliable unlike my friends Garmin unit.

Basically the millenium bug but 25 years late. The unit has run out of numbers to count weeks. My dad's 5 year old roam had the same issue.

Sounds like some Lezyne head units are seeing the same problem too, probably use the same embedded GPS chips.

Last few rides have been the same, distance freezing on and off and the date Jan 2006.

Hopefully they will sort it soon

I've been using fitfiletools to change the dates on my rides and bring them to the correct place in my timeline - its very simple to do. There are some weird GPS traces though where the signal obviously drops out! Probably costing me at least a few hundred metres per ride wink

I could probably do with an upgrade so was slightly hoping that it would be declared terminal and wahoo would send out discounts or vouchers!

I was planning on upgrading later this year as well, but I'd rather my current one kept going until then!

I have to say it would also put me off buying another one of their units if they just walked away from this issue, even if they did give a voucher.

Mine won’t upload the ride to the app today, so I appear to have the meltdown also. First ride in a while.

I’m on an original bolt, which has served me well. I don’t need anything bigger or mapping, just core ride data.

I have been thinking of getting the new bolt, perhaps now is the time, but if a fix is coming I’ve no real reason to swap other than something shiny new.

Edit… maybe it did upload actually, but showing as 2006.

Thought my Bolt had finally given up the ghost on my ride to work this morning, probably the most reliable electronic kit I’ve ever owned!

Kinda relieved it’s an actual problem, I was blaming my toddler for launching it at the floor last week!

After experiencing issues with my v1 bolt I upgraded to the v3. First ride last night and it seems like a quality piece of kit.
For anyone else upgrading, it uses the overall Wahoo app to interface, not the Elemnt app previously used. Took a while to work that one out

I was contemplating upgrading anyway as a small part of my screen as died(white blob) just not sure about another Wahoo. I might be being unreasonable but I feel they have had enough time to sort this out.

Tough crowd!

Always been happy with my wahoo kit. They seem to have got to work and an update coming soon. Rather than simply saying the old stuff isn’t supported anymore, which deserves credit.

I wouldn’t hesitate to go wahoo again if/when I change over head unit.

It was much worse on my ride this morning than earlier in the week! Hardly locked onto GPS at all so ended up with my route looking like dot-to-dot, massive long sections of straight lines linking the occasional data points hehe Sounds like the fix is being tested over the weekend so hopefully back to normal at the beginning of next week.

I did the upgrade from Bolt1 to Roam3 and very happy with it so far. Decent upgrade.
