Dirty Reiver '26
Discussion
So thinking of entering the reiver in 26 (not the 200!), with entries opening Monday. wondered if anyone else had done it or was also entering for next year?
Due to family life my training would probably be restricted to my commute to work with a few shorter evening and weekend blasts so any advice from anyone of how difficult it is would be appreciated!

I did the Dirty 130 a couple of years ago, its a great event and even the 130 is a tough challenge, there are some excellent fast flowing section but also some long grinding climbs. Ideal bike will be hard tail MTB or gravel bike.
I'd suggest book accommodation early once you've got a ticket as there's not a huge amount of choice in the area, we had a few of us in a cabin on a caravan park type place just down the road from the even site and right on the reservoir which was nice.
I'm tempted to go back and do the 200, I feel like its a box that needs to be ticked!

I did the 130 on a gravel bike a few years back too. Ten hours in the saddle, 8000 calories burned. Can't imagine what the 'long' one is like. Type 2 fun at best, and not something I've ever wanted to repeat. Too many people, too much of a slog. Nice scenery but nothing new if you live nearby.
Did the 200 a few years back on a cross bike with teeny tiny gears and 32mm tyres, back when i was racing and thought I was the dog's cock. I was just a cock as it was bloody hard work. .
I am still aching from it.
Great route and atmosphere - interesting mix of beardy hipster with handbuilt gravel bikes, CX racing snakes and randoms on mountain bikes.
Definitely one to do.
There are a couple of very long grinding climbs - don't be afraid of sticking a dinner plate on the back, as they kick in around half way and in the last 20 miles. Plus, the route back around the reservoir is a long old shift - be fully fuelled as it seems to go on forever.
