Stupid question time...

A universal bike rack would be alright to stick on a Ford Galaxy right?

I'm struggling to find any sort of rear mounted (not tow bar) carrier.

Am I right in thinking even if it's not listed as a compatible model, something generic like

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/boot-car-bike-rack-b...

Would still be ok?

It's only to transport kids bikes so nothing too heavy?

I've used a bike carrier of similar design on estate cars with a near vertical rear window, so you should be ok, as long as the straps are long enough to hook over the top of the tailgate and under the bottom.

I'd suggest putting some tape or offcuts of inner tube around the edges of the tailgate to protect the paint. Also, it's worth stopping a few miles after starting a journey to tighten the lower straps as the whole thing will "settle" a little and the lower straps can become slack. I've seen no end of vehicles on the motorway with the lower straps flapping around.

There's something about Galaxies than means you can't use those, I can't remember what though... Do they have a top leading edge made of glass or something?

Why not buy a second hand galaxy tow bar and fit that? You can then add a normal bike carrier. There must be zillions of tow bars out there…maybe at a breakers?
