Recommend me an Endurance bike on C2W
Discussion
FINALLY my employer has seen the light and lifted the daft £1k, Halfords only limit for C2W. So I need a new bike...for work...obvs!
My current road bike is a Canyon Endurace, 12 speed mechanical groupset, discs, carbon frame, DT Swiss ally wheels. So I want something that is a decent upgrade without going crazy. For what it's worth I'll probably hang onto the Canyon for winter bike duties, and I also have a Dolan GXT titanium gravel bike that I use for touring or gravel, so my new bike doesn't really need to tick any off road boxes.
I'm in my early 50s, a not-too-serious-or-thin club rider, rides tend to be 60 mile weekend club cafe rides, 20 mile after work blasts, and the occasional long ride, I did a 10 day LEJOG a couple of years ago. Oh, and my erm daily commute obvs...
Wish list is:
-Carbon or Ti frame
-Geometry that's going to age with me...I'm not racing!
-Decent tyre clearance, my Canyon is running GP5000TR 28mm but I'd happily go a bit bigger
-Thoughtful design...bento box mounts would be nice. Not too fussed about mudguard mounts because Raceblades
-Electronic shifting...not particularly wedded to a particular manufacturer, either SRAM or Shimano is fine
-Decent gearing for a middle aged bloke and hills
-Hydraulic discs, obvs
-Carbon wheels...not an absolute deal breaker, I've never ridden with them but I hear speedy things
I don't want to buy something and then spend a fortune kitting out with all the right bits, so something where I have a bit of freedom on stem length, tyre choice etc is good, although I appreciate the big manufacturers tend to ship "as is".
Any good deals on last year's bikes are fine with me too. And finally it has to be from one of the many independent stores who have partnered with Halfords, so a new Canyon Endurace is out!
Thanks!

I recently got a new bike through Halfords C2W at Balfes Bikes, was very quick/easy to get the voucher and order from them. They also don't add a surcharge on sale bikes when using C2W vouchers as some retailers do. Suggest having a look at Giant Defy, Trek Domane, Scott Addict, Cube Attain, Specialized Roubaix as those seem to meet most of your requirements?

I just picked up a Trek Domane SL5.
105 Di2
Mudguard compatible
Bento box eyelets and tube storage
Relaxed geometry
Tubeless, Carbon wheels with 32mm tyres as standard
Super comfortable, quick enough, components are fine (it's my Winter bike). It was £3999 RRP, I got it for £3,200 and through c2w it's costing me £150 net over 12 months..
Done 400 miles since Jan and it's been absolutely ace.

I presume you left off a 0 at the end?Cheers guys. I have to say I really like the look of the Scott Addict 20, very similar to my Endurace in a "less is more" kinda way. Some clever design stuff with the hidden tool and storage kit.
I'll sit down tonight and plug some geometry stats into a spreadsheet, I don't particularly want to go any more aggressive than the Endurace, which was only marginally softer the Ultimate anyway.

As a real "out of left field" choice, maybe consider a gravel bike but add a set of fast deep wheels and tyres - 2 bikes in 1?
See my original post, I already have a Dolan GXT. TBH I don't now see the point in fast wheels on a gravel bike, the gearing (specifically front chainrings), extra weight and riding position will be a limiting factor. When I ordered my Dolan I specced it so the axles/discs/cassette were the same as my Canyon so I could swap the wheels over, in practice I've never done it. Schwalbe G-One tyres are excellent and fairly fast all rounders, and the gravel bike is quite a good choice for winter group night rides where the chances of hitting a pot hole are high.My new bike will be my summer, "fast" road bike.
I've had a Specialized Roubaix with DI2 since 2019, and I absolutely love it as a regular roadie who's doing 40-70 miles most times I take it out. It's absolutely brilliant for riding on poor road surfaces like chipseal as the futureshock and frame compliance smooth things out so you don't waste as much effort. It's also super stable, so increases my confidence descending. I am very much riding for the fresh air and scenery type rather than a racer, although I have put some carbon wheels on it!
I'd see if you can try some bikes out before buying, as I tried some others at the time (Giant Defy I think), and the Roubaix was way better for me, but it's definitely not a race bike for hammering around on.

Harpoon-great video, thanks for sharing.
kingb-I'd love an Enigma, but TBH probably just a bit rich for me. There's also a bit of me thinking it wouldn't be massively different to my GXT
I have to say I really love the look and design ethos of the Scott Addict 20, however UK stock seems to be a bit of a nightmare!

I picked up a new Scott Addict gravel bike last weekend. The bike shop said they weren't going to be stocking Scott's again in future as they're a nightmare to deal with. They have to order stock once a year and can't get any new bikes after that until the following year. Great bike though!kingb-I'd love an Enigma, but TBH probably just a bit rich for me. As for recommending an Endurance bike, I also have a Giant Defy bought new last year. Quality piece of kit for the money

Fair enough - I went for a mechanical groupset (Ultegra) to keep it in my budget kingb-I'd love an Enigma, but TBH probably just a bit rich for me. There's also a bit of me thinking it wouldn't be massively different to my GXT

Enigma are something else, my Etape was a beautiful ride.
If you avoid the Escape and Endeavour, then it'll be very different to your gravel bike. The Etape might suit, but there's another one they do that might be even better suited.
Yes, they're a bit spend - however the service and quality is off the charts, and you can of course spec it exactly how you want it down to the bottle cage screws...

Is there a reason why not just upgrade your Endurace? Sounds like not old and carbon frame, so maybe upgrade with electronic groupset and some carbon wheels? And any other trinkets, nice new computer, decent jacket/clothing etc..
Also then have option to run the old alloy wheels in the winter on it as well….
From what I’ve read about C2W scheme, it doesn’t have to be a new bike, can be parts/etc. for existing one.
