All, I’m wondering what the orientations of these adjustable angle headsets are (Cube One44 Race800)?

Online guides are ambiguous, with the diagrams not matching the description.

The upper and lower adjustment collars have a line moulded onto them. The lines can fit either facing the front or rear of the bike. I’m unsure if both lines should face front (or rear), or if the upper and lower lines should be 180 degrees opposed.

I want to check which angle I’ve got, and to begin with, if the collars are even installed in the correct orientation. I’d have thought it would be obvious if the bearing housings weren’t coaxial, but…not sure. Thanks.

I think opposed.

Top one facing you and lower one away would be slack.

I have the Cube One55, and just to make things even more confusing I've read that the Across headset adjustment varies depending upon whether or not it has integrated cable routing. headache

What makes you say that out of interest?

Yes, mine's got it. It's unbelievable that they can make something so simple so confusing.

If you look here (this is the version for internal cable routing, which mine has got):

https://cdn.acros-components.com/media/a2/a3/b2/17...

the diagrams say the marks should be opposite, however:

1) The housings shown are tapered, mine aren't.

2) The text at the bottom says: "It is important that you install the bearing cups only as shown in the instructions: with the markings pointing in the same direction"

So the diagrams show the lines in opposite directions, the text says they must be in the same direction.

Either way the English text is contradictory.

So. If you translate the original German instructions, it turns out that ‘entgegengesetzt’ means ‘opposite’, but someone has translated it in English to ‘same’ (in terms of alignment of the lines).

So the diagrams are correct.

Thanks.

On the one I posted they left it in German! What a muddle.

That meant I read the English parts and looked at the diagrams.

I’ve got a Trek eMTB on the way and I think they just have the upper cup that rotates to give the slack or steep angle.
