Stacked bike - what to inspect??
Discussion
Son stacked his bike the other day and bent the front wheel. It's not clear exactly what happened but he was riding down hill and hit some cross ridges probably while braking as there's a gate fairly soon after.
He's fine apart from a few grazes so I don't think it was fast, but the wheel's clearly had quite a hit!

As said, I'd cycle the forks and check for stanchion seal leaks.
Other than that, general look over and check that all the round and rotating things are still round and rotating and the gears still shift.
Bars may also need re-aligning.
RH is an ally frame so should be ok, but check head tube and bottom bracket for cracks if it was a big off.

Another one who says give it a really good looking over. Things like cracked welds, run your hands down tubes for any kinks or dents. Look down frame without wheels in to check alignment. Similarly for bars and stem - check alignment, straightness etc. Forks need a really careful look around the crown - any creaking or signs of movement they need binning.
But if it is small already, N+1 time.

It's a 10-y-o low spec Rockhopper. A bit small for him and he's a unit at 6'4"!
Are you sure the wheel didn't just buckle under the weight of the rider?....
Unless you can find a cheap wheel on Ebay / Marketplace, I'd say it's probably time for a bike that can handle a 6' 4" 'unit'
I've managed to get him a Norco Fluid in XL for not a lot.
But no luck finding a used wheel for sensible money. Annoyingly I'm sure there was one at the tip a few weeks ago!
Question is, is this suitable?? Main query is whether it'll take the QR skewer??
