I've got a planet x road bike, I use a bar end mirror on it, it's ok but it moves a lot even tightened, it's not that big.

I'm not going to get radar as I don't think I'd use it much, currently out once or twice a week up to 6 miles or so

I've seen advertised but not in the flesh a helmet mounted mirror, thinking this may be a good middle ground between bar end and radar
Anyone use one?

Have a search for Bike-eye. Frame mounted, and views between your legs (Oh, err!!)

Try a better bar end mirror. I use this £6.99 one on my flat bar bikes. Great adjustment. Good clear view. Rarely moves.

Cheap enough it's no loss if you drop the bike and break it.

Some mirror/bar combinations I have had to wrap a turn or two of inner tube round the prong before insterting into the bar to get a really secure fit.

Thanks, I've got drop bars so I'm not sure it would fit, good excuse to visit decathlon though

You can get small ones designed for drop bars, they work well.

I used them until I got a rear radar light.,..,

As suggested one that fits in the bar end worth trying.

My drop bar bike has bar end shifters. I use a mirror which clamps onto the brake hood. Great rear view. No longer in production though and probably wouldn't work with brifters anyway.

I bought a mirror after reading this thread, the Zefal Spin bar end mirror. Works really well, instantly getting a lot of use, missed it when I swapped to the gravel bike! Will get another.
Just got back from a trip to Italy, and realised the over the shoulder check for me on the left side was much harder than the right. I had a replacement left shoulder a couple of years ago so "extreme" movement that side is restricted. Need to find something that works in the car too, lane changing on European motorways is hard enough with the speed differential and often only one other lane to go in.

.
That looks better than my £3 eBay one.
Thanks

The only issue I have with it after one ride is there is an irritating high frequency rattle, I think coming from the elbow joint somewhere. It might just need a quarter turn to tighten but I don't want to lock it out.
